European Instruments to improve labour
European instruments for the acknolegment of education beyond national borders
Europass
Europass is a European Union initiative to increase transparency of qualification and mobility of citizens in Europe. It aims to make a person’s skills and qualifications clearly understood throughout Europe (including the European Union, European Economic Area and EU candidate countries).
The five Europass documents are the Curriculum Vitae, Language Passport, Europass Mobility, Certificate Supplement, and Diploma Supplement, sharing a common brand name and logo. Since 2012 individuals have been able to assemble all Europass documents in the European Skills Passport. Such documents are supposed to better the transparency of titles and therefore the communication between the ones searching for job and the offering ones, beyond national borders. That’s supposed to to make job mobility easier and make mobility more important in education and in life experience.
The European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop) developed and maintains the Europass portal in 27 languages. The portal is the reference resource of information related to the five Europass documents. Its purpose is also to help all users create, with a simple wizard, a personal electronic portfolio containing a curriculum vitae (with motivation letter), a language passport or any other document bringing evidence of skills and qualifications (copies of degrees, work certificates, etc.) EuroCV is a free service which help users to create a copy of his own CV within a free web space without advertising allowing the spreading through a public access code (PAC) and a direct link to his own CV. EuroCV uses the European format as a standard for the data presenting
In every country, a National Europass Centre promotes and provides information on the Europass documents.
Youthpass
Learning is not restricted to the classroom. Erasmus+ also supports the recognition and visibility of non-formal and informal learning through the Youthpass certificate. The Youthpass certificate helps to document the development of competences, as well as to confirm participation and describe the respective project. An essential part of the initiative is attention to the planning of the learning process and reflection upon the participants’ personal learning outcomes
The certificate and the learning process linked to it can be useful when applying for a job, further education or other projects. So far, more than 630,000 young people have received a Youthpass certificate.
Youthpass is more than a certificate. It comes with a guided process that helps young people become aware of and present the experiences and key competences they have gained in Erasmus+ youth projects, including youth exchanges, European Voluntary Service and youth worker mobility.
All participants can receive a Youthpass certificate, and thus recognition for their non-formal learning within Erasmus+. This can be very useful for a job interview, at school or for further projects. Take a look at the new Youthpass website to explore it in full.
The Youthpass certificate helps to document the development of competences, as well as to confirm participation and describe the respective project. An essential part of the initiative is attention to the planning of the learning process and reflection upon the participants’ personal learning outcomes. As a strategy, it aims at fostering the recognition of non-formal learning and youth work.
